Busy weekend slates seasonal events
Two events are on the calendar for this weekend. We are busily preparing for more than a thousand trick-or-treaters Saturday and for our annual Fall Event on Sunday.
2023 Halloween Treats
The museum will once again participate in the annual Sandy Area Chamber of Commerce’s progressive Halloween event, which will be Saturday, October 28. The event is sponsored by Sandy’s Helping Hands. The trail opens at 2 p.m. and finishes at 4 p.m. Last year museum workers counted a highly successful two-hour period with 1,141 visitors, or 570 per hour, and we expect more this year.
The traditional trail will include numerous Sandy businesses with the door sign and logo. The signs also have a QR Code for easy access to a map of participating businesses.
The chamber has messaged us that a digital map will be available on their website, an event Facebook page, or fliers at the AntFarm Cafe, the Sandy Historical Museum, and Timberline Meat. The map can make it easier for trick-or-treaters and their guardians to plan which businesses to visit. For questions, email: Chamber@sandyoregonchamber.org
Museum Fall Event Sunday, October 28
The Fall Event at the museum will feature a program by Paul Heistuman on 125 years of history of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Sandy. The event will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday, October 28 at 39345 Pioneer Blvd., Sandy, and is open to the public.
Paul is a graduate of Sandy High School, was a teacher here for many years, and is a long-term resident of the Sandy area. He will be showing historic Sandy photos and chronicling the transitions to modern times.
Light refreshments will be served upstairs in the meeting room.
