SHS joins holiday fest

The Sandy Historical Society will host an Open House on Friday, December 1, from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the museum, 39345 Pioneer Blvd. The museum is just east of the town’s tree lighting ceremony the same evening in Centennial Plaza. New kids' crafts will be supervised upstairs in the meeting room. The Mt. Hood Dulcimers music group will perform the sweet sounds of holiday music. Sweet treats also will be offered.

Mt. Hood Dulcimers is a group of friends and society members who met about sixteen years ago during an introductory dulcimer class taught in the Sandy Senior Center. They practice on most Wednesdays in the museum. Their mountain dulcimers are a type of instrument that was developed in America but has Celtic roots related to the fretted zither family.

Come by and check out our front window design for the holidays. The museum exhibit designer, Laurie DeFazio, has been working hard on the festive design. We think you’ll like it!

More details will emerge about the menorah lighting ceremony December 12.

The museum applied to participate in the city’s Stocking Stroll event Friday, December 15, from 4 to 6 p.m. Volunteers have prepared packets of stocking stuffers for the children who will visit.

Special thanks go to the Council and the Parks and Recreation crews and other volunteers who have worked hard to make the holidays more festive.
