SEASONAL UPDATES FORM MUST-SEE EXHIBITS
Fall is in the air, and change is the word! If it has been awhile since you have
visited the museum, or you are a first-timer, there are new things to discover. For
example, a buggy seat painted green and red replaced the bench in the foyer. Donated
by Elaine Hartman, it was on a wagon used to take guests around a Christmas tree
farm.
On the first floor, the Bull Run exhibit has been updated a bit. The Country Store
is ready to inspire you with your cider making needs. The Logging exhibit soon will have
a few new items as well.
Upstairs, a wagon exhibit shows vintage brown-toned photo prints and a
glass-encased set of miniature wagons contrasting the heavy Conestogas to farm
wagons and the lighter covered wagons. Wagons are even stocked with realistic
“supplies” such as miniature “burlap” bags of “potatoes” and “rice”, barrels, and needed
tools such as a shovel and a rake.
The lower glass shelf suggests a partial wagon train circle in the evening with
horses inside and details even down to eating utensils and “cast iron cookware.
” In the
background, woodsy and cascade mountain scenes hand felted by the designer seem
to beckon pioneers to the future.
The second floor wedding exhibit gave way to our little girl going to school.
Speaking of school, we have almost completed our school room. We hope you will find
this new exhibit a peek into the past. Of course we have plenty of fall color, and orange
carnival glass to top things off.

I especially want to thank Ken Funk for all his help in making the above
mentioned changes possible. Without his efforts, I would never be able to keep up.
Thank you, Ken!
