The View From The Museum
Winds were acting up wildly outside the museum windows on December 27 to the degree that visitors began commenting. Response from the front desk was that at least the town tree had not budged with the gusts and must be pretty deeply seated.
Within minutes that statement had to be retracted as the tree began to lean over and an outcry was “It’s coming down!” Museum visitor Carla Collins from the Wildcat Mountain Road area shared a gag photo of herself “arresting” the fall of the tree. The lights on the tree remained lit for days despite the mishap. Meinig Park did not fare as well, with much storm damage that preceded the cancellation of holiday lights and events. Despite the damage, memories of this year’s merriment refused to be dampened, and citizens justifiably can feel proud of our town’s recent accomplishments and spirit.
