Antiques+++ sale and other activities fill the docket

Now that school is back in session, you might think activities would be slowing down here at the museum, but that just is not true. Not from an insider’s viewpoint, at least. Volunteers and staff are busily preparing for one of our biggest sales of the season.

If you are driving by the east end of Sandy, either westbound on Proctor or eastbound on Pioneer Blvd. on Saturday September 9 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., the popular Antiques, Collectibles, Fabric, and Book sale will be going full swing in the lobby and also spilling out onto the covered walkway and parking lot at 39345 Pioneer Blvd. This sale is a favorite of people who sew. Usually there is a lineup at opening time, so come early for the best selections

The 2023 raffle quilt “Garden Party” sewn by Shirley Crow is on display in the lobby. It has periodically traveled to different events to give more prospective winners a chance. Tickets are on sale for $2 each or 3 for $5. The winning ticket will be drawn November 24.

SHS will again host visitors from the Sons and Daughters of the Pioneers at 10 a.m. September 23 at the museum. Our own Connie Revenue Selzer, great-granddaughter of the first pioneer settlers in this area, will be sharing the story of Jane, a native girl who lived with Francis and Lydia Revenue for up to ten years.

The Trick-or-Treat Trail will again include the museum as a favorite stop Saturday, October 28 for children of all ages, followed by our fall event Sunday, October 29 at 1 p.m. in our meeting room. Norm Ragnone, professional photographer, will present the history of Sandy’s oldest church. St. Michael the Archangel Catholic celebrated 125 years in the area July 22.
