Festival efforts raise scholarships funds

Sandy Historical Society, Inc. extends thanks to about 30 staff and volunteers who gathered to help with the Corn Booth fundraiser July 13 and 14 in Meinig Park during the 2024 Sandy Mountain Festival. Together volunteers made the effort more successful than in the prior year even though there seemed to be fewer park visitors overall. Workers covered nine two-hour shifts, plus booth setup, cleanup, breakdown, and a lot of corn husking in between. One intern even volunteered with a painful, injured knee.

Board Secretary Ann Marie Amstad reassured that expenses were met with adequate profit to offer scholarships next year to Sandy High School graduates. The Sandy Historical Society has been operating the corn booth since the Sandy Alumni Association disbanded and is looking for another local non-profit group to carry on the scholarship program.
