Corn Booth fundraiser needs volunteers

We urgently need volunteers to help with the Corn Booth at the Sandy Mountain Festival July 13 and 14. Proceeds from the sale fund scholarships for deserving Sandy High School seniors. Most shifts are two hours except for set up Friday morning which is 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Available hours on Saturday, July 13 start at 9 a.m. and go to 7 p.m. Hours on Sunday, July 14 are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

If you can spare a couple of hours or more, we would be delighted to have your name and phone number. Sign up in person at 39345 Pioneer Blvd., Sandy, online (sandyhistorical@sandyhistory.com), or by telephone (503-668-3378).

Volunteers are needed to shuck corn, boil the ears of corn, remove the corn using tongs, insert a stick into each cob using insulated gloves, dip the corn into melted butter, hawk corn from the booth counter, make payment transactions, help customers, and clean up. At least one person with a food handler’s license needs to be present during each shift.

Shucking fresh corn takes many hands and is fun with lots of camaraderie. Volunteers would be welcome even before 9 a.m. to shuck corn as well as periodically as new batches cook.

Hope to see you there!
