City adds program to budget

City Hall staff walked across Pioneer Blvd. to deliver the big news in person Tuesday morning, May 21. Economic Development Manager David Snider told us that the City of Sandy is funding our intern payroll in their general budget for the next fiscal year starting July 1. This welcome decision relieves museum staff of the complex process of grant applications every two years to support this program.

The museum has benefited from intern grants the past seven years since 2017. At present the museum has three interns, all juniors from Sandy High School, who work Saturdays. They help in the office and gift shop, accession artifacts, input computer records, scan and process vintage photos, teach classes, and troubleshoot issues.

They also work at special events such as our Antiques and Collectibles Sale, Artisan’s Bazaar, City of Sandy Tree Lighting and open house, and in the Mountain Festival Corn Booth scholarship fundraiser. They immensely enhance our operational abilities.

Thank You!
